What is the difference between a commercial and a proforma invoice?

A commercial invoice records a sale and is the main customs document for it. A proforma invoice is issued before a sale, or where there is none (such as samples), to show the value and terms. It is not a demand for payment.

Do I need a commercial invoice for small parcels?

For postal shipments the CN22 or CN23 customs form is often enough, but many destinations and services ask for a commercial invoice for commercial shipments. Include one when in doubt.

How does the Excel workbook fill itself?

You type the seller, buyer, shipment and item details once on the Details sheet. The commercial invoice, proforma invoice and packing slip sheets read from it with formulas, including line totals and weights.

Do you calculate duty?

No. Government tools do that better and for free, so we link to them.
